With the advent of computers and powerful applications such as Adobe Photoshop, the analog arts seem to be obsolete. There are even some artist now that create their work completely digitally. There is something lost though with the transition into a completely digital world. The human element of variation, chance, and discovery. Designing the Kestral, I sought to blend the analog with the digital. The creation of colors can be as precise as using a computer, or as organic as mixing paint on a palette.

The Kestral works by communicating with the computer like an inkjet printer. With the color selected on the digital palette, the Kestral shoots the right amount of pigment from its color cartridge to achieve the desired color.
