What do you already know about the history of photography?
What do you expect to learn in this class about the subject?
The span of photography as a medium is rather short compared to painting and sculpture. However, photography has evolved rapidly from different styles and genres and is now highly incorporated in the art world. I actually don't know very much about the history of photography other than a few photographers from different time periods and different fields of photography. I know that photography is observational and that certain observations under the camera have impacted the way many people look at the world. An example would be like the footage and photos from the Vietnam War. These photos took a huge toll on the American people and the question of why they were in Vietnam. Photographs are easily accessible today and as a result, many people can see and compare how the times have changed. I'm certain that there is a lot more depth into the history of photography, however, I do not know much about it.
I hope to learn how photography has changed from different periods, and how some different forms of photography developed throughout the years. I want to know how people began experimenting with photography as a medium and how photography became an accepted medium in fine arts. I expect to learn just about everything about the history of photography.
